What agencies mean for you
Four of the 12 busiest employers above, Huzzle, Hire Overseas, Pavago and Hire Hangar, are remote staffing and talent agencies. Together they posted 26 of the 120 roles naming Nigeria.
An agency doesn't hire you to work for itself. It finds people for its client companies and places you with one of them. You do the day-to-day work for the client, but your contract and pay may run through the agency. That's a normal route into remote work, as long as you know what you're signing. Before you accept, check:
- Who the client is. Ask which company you'd work for, or at least its industry, before your final interview.
- Who pays you. Ask whether the agency or the client pays you, in which currency, how often, and through which service.
- What kind of contract it is. Ask whether you'd be an employee or an independent contractor. It changes your tax, leave and notice. See contractor or employee.
- Your hours. A title like Pavago's Full-Stack Software Engineer with U.S. Hours tells you the client may expect you online during American working hours.
- Similar roles. Hire Hangar listed several Sales Manager roles with different focus areas. Track where you've applied.
A real agency never charges you to apply or to be placed. If anyone asks for a fee, walk away.
Roles open across Africa, EMEA and worldwide
The 120 roles naming Nigeria are only part of the picture. When we last checked (30 October 2026), another 447 roles on workafro were open to people across Africa, across EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) or worldwide. You can apply for these from Nigeria too.
Read who can apply first. A worldwide role may still ask for certain time zones, or only hire where the company can pay people. EMEA roles often expect European working hours. Nigeria is on UTC+1, the same as Central European winter time, so you share most working hours all year.
