What the numbers show

On 1 November 2026, 20 remote roles in our list named Uganda, from 12 employers. M-KOPA led with 4, then GiveDirectly and Hire Hangar with 3 each. Add the 451 roles open across Africa, EMEA or worldwide, and 471 in all were open to someone living in Uganda.

So the short list is small, and the longer one is where most of your options are. Being listed doesn't mean an employer works with us. Roles change weekly, and today's live list is here.

A different mix from most countries

In many countries, firms that find staff for others lead the list by far. Uganda's looks different. Most of its short list comes from African companies and from mission-driven groups in education, giving and development. So the path in looks different too. These employers often care about your record in that field and whether you know the region.

The kinds of work reflect it. People and HR leads with 5, then marketing with 3 and engineering with 2. The rest are spread thin. Sales, which dominates elsewhere, has just 1.

Many of these aren't only for Uganda. The same roles often name Ghana (14 of 20), South Africa (14) and Kenya (13). So you'd be up against people from those countries, but your knowledge of East Africa can be a real point in your favour.

If you're starting out

Only 2 of the 20 carry our entry level flag, and we won't pretend otherwise: the Uganda Pilot Intern role at CLEAR Global, and a transcription and annotation project at Lionbridge. Most of Uganda's named roles are senior. So you should look at the wider pool.

Across all countries we flag 27 entry level roles as open to everyone. See who hires beginners, and check the entry level filter for Uganda. If you speak Swahili, Luganda or another local language, look at language and data work. Our guide to AI training jobs explains it.

The wider pool

Most of the 451 worldwide, EMEA and Africa roles are in engineering (114) and data and AI (90). Sales has 38, design 28 and product 25. Uganda is on UTC+3 all year. That's two or three hours ahead of London, depending on the season, so European hours fit a normal Kampala day. Paste a line on your overlap into your application with our time zone tool.

Read each advert, as a role called EMEA can still need a European base. See EMEA roles from Africa.

Tax: a deadline worth knowing

If you already work for someone abroad, this matters. URA's voluntary disclosure programme runs until 30 June 2027, with what it calls a "Full waiver of penalties and interest" for foreign income from 2024 and 2025 that wasn't declared. Read our guide to remote work tax in Uganda before that date. To see what a dollar offer means in shillings, use the USD salary calculator.

How to use this list

If you're experienced in NGO, education or fintech work, go straight to these employers' pages and read what else they've posted. If you aren't, use them to see what the roles ask for, and build towards it. A Grant Writer advert, for example, tells you which skills a role like that wants. Follow the employer's own link on each role to read the full text.

How we count

We read employers' own job boards, and each role in our list links to the employer's own page. A role counts as naming Uganda if its location lists Uganda, including when it lists many countries. Applying is free, and nobody should pay for a job.
